The Boronia Buffaloes Basketball team, based in the Knox area with teams from U/8's through to U/23's.
Established in 1985, the team has been a significant part of the local sports community, participating in various regional and state-level competitions.
Over the years, the Buffaloes have built a reputation for their competitive spirit and community involvement. We're known for our dedication to developing local talent and fostering a sense of community pride.
The Boronia Buffaloes' history is marked by a commitment to both on-court excellence and off-court engagement, with numerous initiatives aimed at supporting young players and promoting the sport of basketball in the Boronia area
Our story began as the Boronia Baptist Boys Brigade Basketball Club, founded by dedicated Boys Brigade leaders and parents with a mission to nurture teamwork, discipline, and passion for the game.
Starting with just 26 enthusiastic young players, our club officially joined the Knox Amateur Basketball Association (KABA) in August 1985, fielding two boys' teams in our debut season.
By 1986, our first committee came together, led by community members dedicated to our growth. With Rev. Peter Clark as our honorary president, John Anderson as vice president, Colette Anderson as secretary and Toni Cornelius as treasurer, they laid the foundation for what Boronia Basketball Club would become.
As our player base grew, the club expanded beyond its Boys Brigade origins. In 1989, we welcomed our first girls' teams, proudly representing Boronia in KABA’s Winter season. Our signature uniforms evolved over time, with blue mesh shorts for the boys and navy for the girls, adding our iconic navy-blue mesh tops in the 1993-94 season.
At Boronia Basketball Club, we value loyalty and celebrate achievements. Every season ends with our Trophy Presentation Day, a cherished tradition where players’ dedication is recognized. Our Ten Season awards debuted in 1990, with additional 15, 20, and 25 season awards honoring our long-standing members. Over the years, we’ve granted Life Membership to dedicated individuals who’ve shown unwavering commitment to our club's success.
Our committee of volunteers keeps the club running smoothly, giving countless hours to ensure every player and family has a positive experience. For information on club rules, regulations, and committee contacts, please visit the Knox Basketball website.
